Privacy Policy

Wa-ka Planner ("we", "us", or "our") provides a public-transit planning and navigation app for African cities, currently serving Nairobi. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Wa-ka Planner mobile app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Wa-ka Planner you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

• Location data. With your permission, we use your device's location to show nearby stops, plan accurate routes, and provide turn-by-turn navigation. If you enable background location, we use it only to continue turn-by-turn directions while the app is in the background during an active trip. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and saved places (such as Home and Work) that you choose to add.
• Trip and usage data. We store trips you plan and related statistics (distance, estimated CO₂ and money saved, calories) so we can show your history and rewards progress.
• Billing information. Payments for Wa-ka Planner Pro are processed by our payment provider, Paystack. We do not store your full card details; Paystack handles payment data under its own privacy policy.
• Advertising and device identifiers. The free version of the app shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers to deliver and measure ads.

How we use your information

• To plan routes, show nearby stops, and provide navigation.
• To create and maintain your account and saved places.
• To calculate and display your trip statistics and rewards.
• To process Pro subscriptions and manage billing.
• To display advertising in the free version of the app.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service.

Advertising & tracking

On iOS, before any tracking for personalized advertising occurs, we ask for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, we request only non-personalized ads. We do not sell your personal data. You can learn how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Sharing your information

We share information only with service providers who help us run Wa-ka Planner — such as Paystack for payments and Google AdMob for advertising — and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data retention

We keep your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below.

Your choices

• Turn location access on or off in your device settings.
• Allow or decline ad tracking via the iOS permission prompt.
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.

Children's privacy

Wa-ka Planner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
